FEUPinions
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Intro:
This game was created as part of the DDJD-FEUP-2024-Preliminary Projects. It's a prototype made to show the key concepts and functionality in our envisioned design.
FEUPinions is a Lemmings inspired game, having NPCs with autonomous movement and abilities the player can assign to them to help them navigate around the level. It features a couple of unique abilities not usually present in this genre of games.
About the game:
Help the FEUPinions escape the FEUP's mass minion production factory! Deep underground in this hidden facility, countless minions are created for the sole purpose to work under FEUP command. But after these little creatures gained sentience, they break free from the production line and wander around the confines of the factory, seeking for a way out towards freedom while doing their best to evade all security mechanisms employed to stop their escape.
How to play:
The game requires only a mouse to play.
Minions move on their own, but you have to help them use their abilities to guide them safely throughout the factory!
- Click on an ability to select it, then click on the minion you want to use the ability.
A special tile with an arrow indicates the exit in each level, the target location where the minions should head towards in order to proceed.
Make sure enough minions survive to the end! They need to stay united and in numbers to coordinate their escape. Otherwise, they will be too weak to carry on...
Ability description:
Currently minions possess 3 abilities:
- Invisibility - The minion can become nearly transparent and blend in with its surroundings. Useful to sneak past things trying to spot them!
- Anti-gravity - Some director decided the minions should be able to manipulate gravity to become more efficient workers. Well, now they can use it to aid their escape! Evade traps with this powerful and versatile ability.
- Builder - Minions might not be able to jump, but they can do something even cooler: materialize bridges! Overcome any gaps standing in their way. (They also emit strange particles while this ability is active, makes you wonder how the materialization process works...)
